LiveReveal - Reporting

Understanding the LiveReveal report

Let's assume a scenario where a LiveReveal with Clickthrough URL is used. There are 2 approaches to showing the data for a LiveReveal:

Breakdown by Element Type:

  • Impressions — An impression is when an opener viewed the LiveReveal.
  • Clicks — The opener clicks on the final Clickthrough URL after they revealed (both in iOS & non-iOS landing page).

Breakdown by revealed/did not reveal:

  • Impressions — Number of openers that “viewed” the LiveReveal.
  • Unique Impressions — These are unique impressions for an opener in a selected period of time. If you choose a certain date and you have more than 1 impression, only 1 will be counted.

If you choose to break down a report by reveal / not revealed, the following options will be displayed:

  • Did not Reveal —These are impressions from LiveReveal types where an opener opened a LiveReveal where they had the option to reveal and did not reveal.

  • Revealed for the first time — These are impressions from an opener that revealed a LiveReveal for the first time.

  • Reopened after reveal — These are impressions from an opener that reopened a LiveReveal campaign they had previously revealed, and saw a revealed image. These would also be impressions from those that reopened a LiveReveal with no landing page - in this scenario, the revealed image is always served on reopen regardless if the user revealed it or not because it is not technically possible to tell if they revealed it, we just assume that they did.

  • Revealed more than once — These are impressions from subsequent reveals after the first reveal when the Remember user interactions on reopen? option is turned OFF.

  • Not able to reveal — These are impressions from openers receiving the LiveReveal with no landing page type, but are on email clients where in-email reveal is not supported so they receive the revealed image without being given the option to reveal.

  • Reveal Unknown — These are impressions from openers receiving the LiveReveal with no landing page type on their first open in email clients where revealing is supported in email but we are unable to tell if they are revealed or not.

  • Not a LiveReveal— If you have a campaign that has other elements apart from a LiveReveal and you filter by LiveReveal, this option will show the number of elements that are not a LiveReveal.

Clicks are reported for openers that actually clicked on the Hidden Image or Hidden Image call to action on the Landing page to go to the element's preset clickthrough URL.

If the "Go straight to clickthrough after revealing on landing page" checkbox is clicked, going to the landing page will automatically count as a click.

Note: If you are not using a Subscriber ID for your campaign, you will see clicks attributed to "User did not reveal the hidden image" impressions.

Reporting Limitations for LiveReveal Without the Landing Page Experience

Currently, if you choose to create a LiveReveal without the landing page experience in Step 1 of the LiveReveal wizard, reporting will be severely limited:

All openers that received the "revealed image" in email because their email client does not allow for an in-email reveal, will be reported as "User did reveal the hidden image".

Unfortunately, Liveclicker is unable to decipher whether or not a reveal is made when a user is served with the ability to make an in-email reveal.

For a "Simple LiveReveal", the expected experience is the following: If the user opens the LiveReveal in Apple Mail for Mac, or iOS devices, the Click Cover Image image is presented and users are able to reveal. If the user opens in any other email client: The Hidden Image is presented since there isn't a landing page set to reveal.

The report should have "Reveal unknown" (for the above e-mail clients), and "Not able to reveal" (for all the rest of e-mail clients).
